Newport – Tropical Love Land (SOLD)

144 Prince Alfred Parade, Newport.    SOLD August $2.65

Area: Pittwater/ Northern Beaches

There are two ways people approach this house.  Everyone loves the location, the outside, the tropical pool set-up, but then they hate the inside.  This type of modern doesn’t row your boat.    Or you are the other party.  You can’t believe that house and that tropical garden are one and the same.   It’s modern house in the tropics bliss. Which one are you?

Are you impressed by the waterfront picture?  Wait, this is not about it being a waterfront house.   I’ll just leave all the interior shots for you to enjoy.   You just need to know it was built in 1962 and is currently for sale.

Birchgrove – Sandstone & Black walls (SOLD)

w1920-h1080-w1600-h1200-2012871149_1_pi_160615_034016.jpg

Fantasy Home moment.  Price? no object.  But let’s be a little picky.  We are looking at over $5.5 million.

9 Numa Street, Birchgrove

w1600-h1200-2012871149_2_pi_160615_034020Here’s a handy arrow.  Gosh that ferry looks close.

w1600-h1200-2012871149_3_pi_160615_034025I’m in love. It’s a toss up between the black stove and all those windows.

Kitchen itself looks a little old.  Need one of those funky taps, maybe black again?  The dishwasher is white, white?  who has white appliances these days?

w1600-h1200-2012871149_4_pi_160615_034016Built in 1913 and owned by one family for 50 years, it’s a rare look into a lovely family home.   I love the arts and craft timber work.  The black walls and details are a great anchor to the views.

w1600-h1200-2012871149_5_pi_160615_034018Al fresco on demand.  Doors have been pushed back for some clever open dining.  Love the  Icarus light shade.  Nice view back to living area.

w1600-h1200-2012871149_6_pi_160615_034023Sydney sandstone jigsaw walls, floorboards and handy exit to the outdoors.

w1600-h1200-2012871149_7_pi_160615_034016The winter balcony.  There are very few houses on the harbour with this amount of openness.  Maybe I speak too soon and some ferry comes blasting past or maybe a midnight party boat with John Farnham playing too loud.

w1600-h1200-2012871149_10_pi_160615_034016Honey, we bought a park. Is there enough lawn to warrant a ride-on mower?  The teenager in me is planning a swing over that tree.

w1600-h1200-2012871149_9_pi_160615_034025Dining under hanging rock.  White dresses and pan flutes required. Like your own private national park.

w1600-h1200-2012871149_8_pi_160615_034021Well, this just caps it off.  How many people can you fit on the lawn for New Year’s?

Birchgrove is already an incredible suburb this is just a great reason to leave the Eastern Suburb crowded harbour side and lie around on this lawn.

Do you know this house?  have you visited? please leave a comment.
